Privacy and cookies
Written plainly, because a privacy policy nobody can read is not really a privacy policy. Last updated October 2026.
Who is responsible
Takeflight (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/618012/07), run by Anton Jordaan in Somerset West, South Africa. Reach me at hello@takeflight.co.za or +27 67 532 5033.
Information Officer: Anton Jordaan (hello@takeflight.co.za)
What gets collected
Only what you type into the contact form or the project planner. Your name, business name, email address, phone number if you give one, what you are looking for, your answers in the planner and whatever you write in the message. Nothing else is asked for and nothing is bought from anywhere.
Why
To reply to you, work out whether I can help and, if we go ahead, prepare a proposal and do the work. Your details are never sold. You are only added to the occasional Takeflight email if you tick that box, and you can stop it at any time.
Who helps me handle it
A small number of service providers process your details on my instructions and for no other purpose:
- Cloudflare hosts this website, checks forms for spam and delivers your message to my inbox.
- Google Workspace holds my email.
- Google Analytics counts visits, but only if you accept analytics cookies.
Some of these providers store or process information outside South Africa. I only use providers bound by data protection terms that give protection at least similar to POPIA, as section 72 of POPIA requires.
How long it is kept
Enquiries that do not become work are deleted within 12 months. Records for clients are kept for as long as tax law requires, which is usually five years. If you would like your enquiry deleted sooner, ask and it gets deleted.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. It does not track you across other websites and it runs no advertising pixels.
If analytics is switched on, it uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read, which sets its own cookies. That runs only if you agree to it, and it does not try to work out who you are personally. You can decline and the site works exactly the same. You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the foot of every page.
The project planner keeps your answers on the page while you fill it in. Nothing is sent anywhere until you press send.
Your rights under POPIA
You can ask what I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected and ask for it to be deleted. You can also object to it being used for marketing. Email me and I will do it. How to ask for records formally is set out in the PAIA manual. If you are not happy with how it has been handled you can take it up with the Information Regulator of South Africa(opens in a new tab).
Security
The site runs strictly over HTTPS. Form submissions are processed immediately at the edge by Cloudflare and sent straight to my inbox. No form responses or contact details are written to or stored in a database on this website, so there is no central database here to target or breach. If something ever did go wrong with your information, I would tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
Websites I build for clients
When I build or look after a website for a client, the client decides what their site collects and is responsible for it. I handle that information only on their behalf, under a written agreement, as POPIA requires of an operator. Questions about a client's website are best sent to that business first.
